Longer description
Munchy is a platform game. Based on Hyper Loderunner on game boy. Each level consists of lots of different kinds of blocks. To complete each level, you must collect all the gems that are on screen and then reach the Gate. Blocking your way will be various obstacles, locked doors, spikes, teleporters, monsters and various other hazards. Also a very important feature is the level editor, allowing you to make your own quests!
After thoughts
Hyper Loderunner was probably the thing that inspired me to make games, because it had such a cool level editor. So I always wanted to remake it myself. I originally set about doing this with qbasic, unfortunately i've lost the disc with that game on it but it was awesome, and one day I shall remake it's awesomeness in DarkBasic...

The Qbasic Munchy game was better than this one in many many ways. For one, it had a 2player option. And granted, playing with 2 people would be very impractical, it allowed puzzles to be made where you had to use 2 characters in conjucnction. Like Lost Vikings or such. Also, the game had an option where you could pick up boots and start jumping. Also, the fact there was a "shadow" effect. Making you only able to see a few squares around your character. It was great

Though, the major improvement that game had over this one, was the "themes". In this munchy game, all you have is a collection of, mostly metallic looking squares. In the Qbasic version, I had about a dozen variations on the same blocks. They all did the same thing of course, but the changes in appearance vastly improved the games appearance. I had themes like "Future", "Candy", "Cavern" and stuff... it was awesome why'd I have to lose the disk... Oh well, there's always the sequal

All games on this site are created by me, Tifu, aka Ryan Johnston, and are all freeware. If you enjoy these games please help spread the word about them, drop me some feedback (forums, e-mail, blogger thingy) or even better, make a donation . New games should work on most decent PCs with DirectX9 or better. Most of the old games will not work in Windows XP. Site best viewed in Opera, on something bigger than 800x600 resolution.
